Who is Maria?
Hey! I'm 25 years old, originally from Gothenburg but now living and studying in Umeå. My path to where I am today has been a journey of exploring and learning more about myself. The one thing that has given me answers in life is traveling, exploring new places, meeting new people, and exchanging knowledge and inspiration with those I meet.
After graduating from high school, I moved to the U.S. to fulfill my dream of living abroad, where I studied business management and played soccer at a higher level. Then, when I decided to spend a ski season in Bad Gastein, Austria, I met people who led me into coding and interaction design. Five months later, I had both a new home away from home and a new perspective on what I wanted to do in the future.
I eventually found my way to Umeå University, studying Interaction, Technology and Design. This programme introduced me to coding and sparked my passion for IT.
Academic Background
I am currently a fifth-year student, graduating with an M.Sc. in Engineering in Interaction, Technology and Design, as well as B.Sc. degrees in Media Technology and Computer Science.
Outside my studies, I have been active in promoting gender equality through the non-profit organization DataTjej, where I've spent two years: one as an event organizer and currently as a web editor. I am now also involved with Uniaden, working with corporate relations.
