PROJECT 04 · PRODUCT DESIGN + DEVELOPMENT

Euro Padel Leauge

This project was a part of the course "Prototype Development for Mobile Applications" at Umeå University. We were a total of four people in the project group, and we decided after discussion back and forward to collaborate with "Euro Padel Leauge". Euro Padel League is a padel event combining competitive tournaments with social activities. Our project focused on designing and developing a mobile application that brings match information, events, teams, players and tournament results together in one accessible application.

CHALLENGE

Euro Padel League did not have a dedicated mobile application for players and spectators to access up-to-date tournament information. The challenge was to transform a broad set of requirements into a clear and accessible mobile experience, making it easy to navigate between matches, teams, players, standings and events without overwhelming the user.

02

WORKING WITH THE CLIENT

The project was developed in collaboration with Euro Padel League. We worked iteratively with the client throughout the design process, using feedback to refine the information architecture, content and visual direction.

Early discussions focused on defining the scope and understanding what information was most important to users. This included tournament structures, seasonal events, team and player information, standings and previous results.

One important insight was that the platform should communicate the experience around the tournaments, not only the matches themselves. The client wanted the events, locations and surrounding activities to be more visible.

03

FROM REQUIREMENTS TO INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

The initial requirements covered a wide range of content and functionality. Our first step was to organise these requirements into a clear information structure and identify the main areas of the application.

01

Define core user needs

02

Structure the information architecture

03

Organise tournament information

04

Structure teams and player profiles

05

Design match filtering and navigation

06

Integrate events and social content

07

Connect YouTube and Instagram content

04

Design

We started with low-fidelity prototypes to explore different navigation structures and ways of presenting the large amount of tournament information.

Lofilofi

After iterating on the structure and receiving feedback from the client, we developed a hi-fi mobile interface.

FINAL RESULT & DEVELOPMENT

After being done with the design, we moved into development using React Native and Expo. The application was built to support both iOS and Android.

I contributed to both the design and implementation of the application, working with TypeScript, React Native and Expo Router. We divided the work, so my primary part was coding the "Cup"-user flow. So, all the different groups, rounds, matches and how the results of matches is shown. However, we shared and helped each other on different components.
